Best practices for building a loyalty programme

Practical tips for building an effective loyalty programme — campaigns, welcome benefits, member communication, member cards, and event ticket sales.

An effective loyalty programme is built on well-planned campaigns, visible marketing inside the venue, and regular communication with members. This guide brings together best practices for getting the most out of your programme — with concrete campaign examples for different venue types.

💡 From our experience: venues that keep loyalty materials visible attract many times more members than venues that don't display any signage.

Make your loyalty programme visible in your venue

Marketing materials help showcase your loyalty benefits and attract new members. Stylish stands and signage fit perfectly into a restaurant setting and are easy to set up.

5 tips for designing effective campaigns

1. Choose products that appeal to your customers

Design campaigns that appeal to as much of your customer base as possible. Your best-selling products usually perform best.

2. Keep your campaigns fresh

Update your campaigns regularly. At least 1–2 campaigns should always target popular products.

3. Use strong visuals

Marketing performs much better when it includes a clear and appealing product photo.

4. Save time — plan campaigns ahead

Sketch out your campaign framework in advance for the whole year, or for six months at a time.

5. Offer an attractive welcome benefit

By far the most effective way to attract new members is to offer a −10% or −20% welcome benefit that applies to all products.

The welcome benefit is a thank-you to your customer for sharing their details with you.

Stamp Card — an effective way to bring customers back

The digital Stamp Card is one of the most popular ways to engage customers. For example, every tenth lunch or coffee can be free.

There are two ways to create a Stamp Card:

  • POS integration — stamps are collected automatically through the point-of-sale system. Available with Restolution.

  • Code-based or NFC card — no POS integration required.
