A targeted push message speaks to the recipient personally and produces a much better response than a mass message to everyone. This guide walks through the most common targeting scenarios and how to build them with the filters in Cluby Partner Hub.
📖 Basic guide for sending a push message: How to send a push message from Cluby Partner Hub.
Where the targeting happens
Targeting is done in the Members view using filters, before you click Send push message. The bar above the list shows "X members selected", and the number updates as you narrow the audience.
Available filters
Click + Add filter — two categories are available:
User properties:
Gender — Male / Female / Non-binary / Other
Age — by age range
Language — e.g. Finnish, English, Spanish, etc.
Last seen — when the customer last used the app
Joined — when they became a member
User activity:
Benefit — customers who have (or have not) used a specific benefit
Membership card — customers who hold a specific digital card (e.g. a VIP card or staff card)
Event — customers who have attended a particular event
💡 The Membership card filter also opens the shortcut tiles above the list: at a glance you can see how many customers hold a VIP card, Staff card, or any other card.
Method 1: Send to VIP cardholders
A classic example — you want to give VIPs an exclusive first look at a new menu, or invite them to a VIP event.
Go to the Members view
Click + Add filter → Membership card
Pick your VIP card from the dropdown (e.g. "SAMPPIS VIP", "VIP +1"). You can pick several at once
Check the "X members selected" count above the list — this matches the number of cardholders
Click Send push message and fill in the form
💡 Tip: At the top of the Members view there are stat tiles per membership card (e.g. VIP card, Staff, FC INTER VIP). You can click a tile directly to narrow the view quickly.
Method 2: To event attendees (active customers)
Target customers who attended a previous event — e.g. invite them to the follow-up, or thank the summer-season regulars.
Click + Add filter → Event
Pick one or more past events (e.g. "VELO OPEN AIR (15.08.2026)")
Keep "Any of the following" selected if you want to include anyone who attended any of the listed events
Check the member count and send the message
💡 Example: "Hey! Thanks for joining us at our summer events 🌞 This Saturday we're keeping the energy going — VIP pricing for previous attendees."
Method 3: To customers who haven't visited in a while
These are loyalty customers who haven't been in touch for, say, the last 2–6 months. A great group for win-back campaigns (e.g. a welcome-back offer).
Click + Add filter → Last seen
Narrow to a period when customers haven't opened the app (e.g. "more than 90 days ago")
If you like, add a second filter — e.g. Joined so that you exclude brand-new members (who just joined aren't dormant yet)
Send a message with a clear reason to come back — a new menu, a loyalty offer, an event
💡 Example: "Hey, we've missed you! 🥂 Drop in during September — as a loyalty member you get lunch at −20 %."
Method 4: To those who've used a specific benefit (or haven't)
You can target customers who have redeemed a specific benefit — e.g. to nudge them about a similar new one — or the opposite: those who haven't yet redeemed your best benefit.
Click + Add filter → Benefit
At the top there are two modes:
"Any of the following" — customers who have used the selected benefits
"None of the following" — customers who have not used the selected benefits
Search and pick one or more benefits from the list (e.g. "Corona bottle", "Karhu draught")
Send the message
💡 Two examples:
Have used the Corona benefit: "Mexican week is on! 🌮 Alongside your Corona, margaritas are now −20 % for loyalty members."
Haven't used a lunch-related benefit: "Haven't tried the loyalty lunch yet? 🍽️ Only €8.90 this week."
Combine several filters in one message
Filters stack — a customer belongs to the group only if all filters apply at once. Example combinations:
VIP + dormant: Membership card = VIP card + Last seen = more than 60 days ago → win back your most valuable regulars
Women + event attendees: Gender = Female + Event = "Ladies Night" → your recurring Ladies Night community
New members + haven't used a benefit: Joined = last 30 days + Benefit = "None of the following" (most common benefits) → encourage a first redemption
Good practices for targeting
Always check the member count before sending — if the number is unexpectedly small or large, there may be an error in the filters
Speak to the group in a way that matches the targeting — a different tone for VIPs vs. a win-back to dormant customers. A loyalty member notices when a message feels tailored.
One message per segment at a time — don't send the same customer several separate targeted messages on the same day
Test with a smaller group first — if you're not sure how a message will land, send it to VIPs first and see how many react before rolling it out to everyone
