This guide covers creating a Stamp Pass from start to finish using an NFC card — the simplest way to reward your loyalty customers for repeat visits. The customer earns a stamp by tapping their phone on the venue's NFC card. No POS integration, no number codes, no manual work.
📖 Need another stamping method? See the complete guide that also covers QR codes (POS integration) and rotating numeric codes: Creating a Stamp Pass in Cluby Partner Hub
Why choose an NFC card?
One tap = one stamp — the customer holds their phone against the card and the stamp registers automatically
No POS integration — works without connecting to the till
No staff work — no need for codes or manual entry at the till
Hard to misuse — the card is physically at the venue, so customers earn stamps only by visiting in person
Before you start
You'll need:
Cluby NFC cards — order from the Cluby team, delivered straight to your venue. Every card has a unique 4-character code.
Cluby Partner Hub permissions — Admin or Organisation admin
An idea for the Stamp Pass — which product, how many stamps, what reward (e.g. 10 lunches = the 11th free)
💡 Haven't received your cards yet? Get in touch with the Cluby team via the support portal chat or by email at support@cluby.com. Tell us how many cards you need.
1. Open Stamp Passes in Partner Hub
Log in to Cluby Partner Hub
From the left sidebar, go to Stamp Passes
Click Create new stamp pass
The wizard opens into four steps: 1. Basics → 2. Settings → 3. NFC cards → 4. Rewards.
2. Step 1: Basics
If you manage several venues, select the venues where the pass will be available
Enter a name for the Stamp Pass in both Finnish and English (e.g. Lounaspassi / Lunch Pass)
Click Continue.
3. Step 2: Settings (stamp collection)
Enter the number of stamps — e.g. 10 stamps → free lunch
Set the daily stamp limit — usually 1 stamp per day (prevents misuse)
💡 Stamp logic: If you set the number of stamps to 10, slots 1–10 on the card are stamps, and slot 10 is both the final stamp and the earned reward. For the customer it means "the 11th lunch is free", but the app doesn't show a separate 11th slot.
Click Continue.
4. Step 3: NFC cards
This is where you attach the actual NFC cards to the Stamp Pass. The view says: "Attach optional NFC cards that customers can tap to collect a stamp."
Add the cards one by one
Click + Add card
The Add NFC card dialog opens, with four boxes for entering the code
Pick up the NFC card you received from Cluby — look for the 4-character code on the back of the card or in a corner
Enter the code into the boxes exactly as it's printed
Click Add card — the card activates and is linked to this Stamp Pass automatically
Repeat for each card (if you received several)
💡 Several cards at the same venue? You can link multiple NFC cards to the same Stamp Pass — e.g. one card on a table stand, another on the counter, a third at the till. Customers can use any of them.
Click Continue.
5. Step 4: Rewards
The reward is the benefit the customer earns once they've collected enough stamps.
Write the reward's name and description in Finnish and English (e.g. "Free lunch — collect 10 stamps and your next lunch is on us")
Add an image of the reward. Recommended size: 1500 × 900 pixels.
💡 Tip for the image: You can either Upload your own image from your computer or use Choose gallery to pick a free stock photo directly from Partner Hub. For more details: How to add an image from the Partner Hub image gallery
6. Publish the Stamp Pass
Click Save and publish — the Stamp Pass is immediately available to customers in the Cluby app
If you want to prepare it but publish later, choose Hide Stamp Pass from users and save
7. Place the NFC card somewhere visible
An NFC card only works if customers can find it easily. Recommended spots:
On the counter next to the till — when the customer pays, they'll see the card at the same time
On a table stand on every table — works especially well in lunch venues
Near the entrance — e.g. inside the glass door or by the information board
💡 Tip: Add a short note next to the card: "Tap with your phone to get a stamp" or "Hold your phone over the card". Most customers aren't yet familiar with NFC Stamp Passes, so a quick instruction helps adoption.
8. Test that everything works
Open the Cluby app on your own phone and make sure you're signed in
Touch the back of your phone to the NFC card
A Cluby NFC pop-up appears on your phone — tap it
The stamp registers automatically on your own Stamp Pass
⚠️ If the pop-up doesn't appear, check that NFC is turned on in your phone's settings and that you're signed in to the Cluby app.
How a customer uses the NFC Stamp Pass
The customer experience is simple:
The customer unlocks their phone (the Cluby app doesn't need to be open)
They tap their phone on the NFC card at the till or on the table
A Cluby NFC pop-up appears on their phone — they tap it
The stamp registers and the customer sees their balance grow in the app
Once the customer has collected all the stamps, the reward becomes available for them to redeem at the till.
📖 You can share this troubleshooting guide with customers if they have issues: NFC stamping isn't working in the Cluby app
Troubleshooting from the restaurant's side
A customer says the stamp didn't register
Ask the customer to check that NFC is turned on in their phone's settings (Android) or that their phone is recent enough (iPhone 7+)
Check that they're signed in to the Cluby app
If needed, add the stamp manually from Partner Hub — see: Adding a missing stamp manually
An NFC card is lost or broken
Order a new card from the Cluby team. If you want, you can remove the old card from Partner Hub (Action Links → NFC cards → ⋯ → Delete) so its code can no longer be used.
Adding NFC cards later
You can add new NFC cards to the same Stamp Pass at any time:
Go to the Stamp Passes view
Click the Stamp Pass row's ⋮ menu → Edit details
Go to step 3. NFC cards
Click + Add card and enter the new card's code
Save
